About Us
The
current strength and reputation of IRONIC ART is really
a reflection of the hard work and determination that has been applied
by Colin and Stuart Sinclair over the past few years. This father
and son team had the vision and the ability to develop IRONIC
ART into
the well recognised brand it represents today.
Based on the desire of Colin to retire during 2007, Stuart has now sold the business,
but continues to work for IRONIC ART in heading the design and
production team. The general management of the company has been assumed by the
new owner, Jens Foerstmann, who is committed to continue and
uphold the spirit and values of a family business, while trying at the same time
to lift the business to the next level.
Jens has recently emigrated with his family from the UK to New Zealand and has many years experience in the general management of a sales and marketing driven company. His aim is to further develop IRONIC ART and to ensure that Stuart’s creativity and talent can continue to thrive within a hopefully ever growing workforce.
Stuart brings to the business a lifetime love of drawing characters and scenes. He trained for 5 years in the UK, attending technical college there and gaining 10 national certificates in various engineering subjects. He served his apprenticeship with a Scottish company where he designed and fabricated his own engineering projects. After that Stuart moved to New Zealand and started working at IRONIC ART. After the initial acquisition of the company, Stuart continued the tradition of producing original designer metal products for discerning customers. Stuart is a hands-on kind of guy. He is solely responsible for the design of a myriad of individual products that are produced in the Ferry Road workshop, but also has a hand in fabricating them. He is ably supported in this role by Jaron Tabak.
After a few years of absence Jaron has found his way back to Ironic Art. He actually was the first apprentice to learn at Ironic Art before he moved on to work for a local engineering company. He was successfully running his own company for some time before he got reunited with Ironic Art. His claim to fame is that he played a major part in creating our Ironic Art crane and sign, which is now known by most people in Christchurch.
Together the team has produced large assignments of fit outs for various Speights Bars and Lone Star Cafes throughout New Zealand, through to individually designed tables, chairs, signs or sculptures for firms and individuals in Christchurch and throughout New Zealand.
