About Us

Ironic Art Ltd has been established during the early nineties and has developed its own style of wrought iron products over the many years. In particular the various signs, menu boards, drive and entrance gates are still well recognisable throughout the city of Christchurch.

The timeless designs and high quality craftsmanship of all of our work is really a reflection of the dedication and devotion of every single team member towards the individual projects and the materials used.

With a combined experience of more than 20 years in this field we are able to satisfy all the individual requirements of our clients.

The general management of the business has been assumed by Jens Foerstmann, who had acquired the company in late 2007, and who is committed to continue and uphold the spirit and values of a family business, while trying at the same time to lift the business to the next level.

Jens has emigrated in 2005 with his family from the UK to New Zealand and has more than 10 years experience in the general management of a sales and marketing driven company in the UK. His aim is to further develop Ironic Art and to strengthen its current position in Canterbury and beyond.

Stuart Sinclair, as the previous owner of the company, brings a lifetime love of drawing characters and scenes to the business. He trained for 5 years in the UK, attending technical college there and gaining 10 national certificates in various engineering subjects. He served his apprenticeship with a Scottish company where he designed and fabricated his own engineering projects. After that Stuart moved to New Zealand and started working at Ironic Art. And after taken over the business, his outstanding ability to design and create the various products allowed the company to go from strength to strength. Stuart is ably supported in this role by Jaron Tabak.

After a few years of absence Jaron has found his way back to Ironic Art. He actually was the first apprentice to learn at Ironic Art before he moved on to work for a local engineering company. He was successfully running his own company for some time before he got reunited with Ironic Art. His claim to fame is that he played a major part in creating our Ironic Art crane and sign, which is now well recognised throughout Christchurch.
